2018 Private Packaging Collaboration / 1 / ‘The pebbles came with the ocean waves’ Artist Park Sin Woo
“이모와의 여행 중 파도에 밀려온 돌 12개를 골라 주웠다.
이모의 어려운 상황을 이해하고 싶었다.
이 돌을 모티브로 한 작업을 통해 이모에게 또 다른 여행을 선물하고 싶다.”
작품의 이야기와 오브제를 담을 수 있는 포장 Packaging 이 되도록
양선혜 공예가와 워크숍을 통해 완성했습니다.

“돌을 포장하는 데에 있어 바다와 파도를 모티브로 겉 포장을,
해변을 모티브로 속 포장을 구성했습니다.
손이 집히는 돌을 하나씩 건져 올려 열두 개가 모인 것을 표현하고자
손잡이를 달고 열두 개의 돌을 낱개 포장하여 한 줄로 엮었습니다.
손잡이는 돌처럼 자연에서 온 나뭇가지를 활용했습니다.
크기와 길이에 딱 맞게 제작한 상자에 손잡이를 걸 수 있도록 했습니다.
손잡이를 들어 올리면 한 줄로 연결된 열두 개의 돌이 따라 올라옵니다.
포장 Packaging 으로 완성된 작품을 통해
이모를 향한 조카 박신우 작가의 마음과 연결될 누군가의 마음을 생각했습니다.”

“While travelling with my auntie, I picked up twelve pebbles on the shore that had been washed
in by the waves.
Pondering my auntie’s difficult situation.
This artwork with pebbles become symbolic of another travelling experience for my auntie.”
This collaboration artwork, with gift packaging artisan Yang Seon Hye from her workshop, aims to tell a story and show the objects.

"For wrapping the pebbles, the exterior packaging was inspired by the sea and waves.
The shores gave me the idea of the inner packaging.
To express how the twelve pebbles were picked up by hand
I made a handle on top and strung the twelve individually wrapped pebbles.
The handle is made of a twig, just like the pebbles, from nature.
Using a made to measure box ensured the perfect fit for the piece
and the bespoke recess enables the handle to perch majestically on top.
Lifting the handle allows the pebbles to follow in a row.
The artwork, completed by artisanal packaging, enables the artist, Park Shinwoo
, to express his heartfelt emotion towards his auntie."
